The Boy Who Never Saw the guard That Protected His family
Eight-year-old Moksha lived in a small fishing village on the coast of Tamil Nadu. Every morning before sunrise, his father would take a small wooden boat out to sea while his mother prepared to sell the day's catch at the local fish market. It was a simple but comfortable life. His father's catch was usually enough to provide for the family, and Moksha went to school every day without worrying about tomorrow. Every evening, the family sat together for dinner, and seafood was almost always on the table. Their house stood only a few hundred meters from the shoreline. Like every coastal village, they experienced storms from time to time, but life always returned to normal.
Over the next few years, things slowly began to change. Moksha's father spent longer hours at sea, but the fishing nets returned with fewer fish. Many fishermen in the village were facing the same problem. With less fish to sell, several families found it difficult to meet their daily needs, including Moksha's. Eventually, he had to leave school and help support his parents. Around the same time, a severe cyclone struck the coast. Storms were not new to the village, but this one caused far greater damage than people had experienced in years. Waves reached farther inland, flooding many houses, including Moksha's. His family lost many of their belongings and had to move into a small rented house away from the shore.
